Barbara File Marangon is a writer, teacher, choreographer, and painter. She wrote two memoirs: Detour on an Elephant, A Year Dancing with the Greatest Show on Earth and Chasing Castles, Nineteen Years Living and Teaching Ballet in Italy.

Born in New York, Barbara received her BA in Dance from SUNY’s Empire State College. She danced professionally in classical ballets, operas, musicals—and the circus. In addition to her memoirs, Barbara’s writing has appeared in Dance Magazine and The Florida Writer Magazine. She is a member of CORPS de Ballet International, the National Dance Teachers Association, and the Florida Writers Association.

She received her MFA in Creative Writing at the Southern New Hampshire University. After publishing two memoirs, she's writing a mystery/romance series that takes place in Venice, Italy.

She lives in Florida with her husband Gianni and their two Chihuahuas—Bepi and Gina.
